January 2011 - Happy New Year from WBR!  Hope everyone has a wonderful year and racing season.

Sept. 18, 2011 - The last race of the Huntsville Speedway season... we qualified well - 5th out of 13 trucks but a draw for the top 6 qualifiers helped us out and we started 3rd.  WBR ran well and held 4th place during a long green flag run.   We ran in the top 5 most of the night but struggled toward the end with a loose truck.  We fell back to 10th and ran there for a while.  We worked our way back up to 6th with 5 to go and another caution came out.  That helped our tires cool down and we were able to get 5th until a last lap crash involving the leaders got us.  We were able to get the truck started and limp to the checkered flag.  We came out 4th so not a bad run for our 3rd race.  The truck is not so good but we have the off season to get everything worked out.  See you in 2012.

Sept. 11, 2011
- WBR had a great night of racing.  The Huntsville Speedway hosted The World Classic race.  Practice was good on Sat. 09/10 and we ran a lot better times than the first race..about a second faster.  We qualified 7th out of 16 trucks.  The start was good and we got up to 5th pretty quick.  Ran there until the first caution and things kinda went backward for awhile.  We got caught up in some beating and banging and was back all the way to 11th at one time.  Got a great restart with about 7 to go and worked our way up to 5th again but caution came out and they scored us at 7th on the line up.  With 5 to go we got to 5th place again in a photo finish with Casey Clark.  Not not too bad for our 2nd race out....we will gladly take a top 5.  But hold on!  First and second place were both DQ'd for illegal carbs and we got 3rd!  That's even better.  Next race is next week on 09/18/11.
Who knows.....may be a win before the season is over?????? That would be nice.

August 6, 2011 - First time on the track was 08/5/11 and we only got 10 laps of practice in due to mechanical problems.  Next day, 08/6/11,  we made the race and  ran ok but the truck kept overheating and I had to come in the pits under cautions to get it cooled down.  I worked my way up to 6th place but with 5 laps to go I had to pull off the track with overheating problems.  I would have finished 9th overall but since we did not run the track approved tires we had to take last place.  My crew chief (dad) wanted me to stay on slicks for my first race so I would handle better and since we aren't running for points this year I just needed to get some seat time.  Next race is Sept 4th.

July 2011 -  We finally have a new hauler and all the racing stuff we need to go race.  Our plans are to race the August 6th race at Huntsville Speedway.  I will not have much seat time before race day so I plan on staying out of everyone's way and learn as much as I can from the other drivers out there.

May 2011 - Due to schedule conflicts and Will deciding to stick with racing asphalt, we sold the 600cc sprint and bought a race truck.  The schedule is now posted on the schedule page.  We hope to race before August 6, 2011 but since we purchased the race truck in May we will miss the first part of the race schedule.  Also, the truck we purchased needed some work and therefore August may be the earliest we will be able to compete.  Check the schedule often for any changes.

1/15/11 - HQMA had their annual awards banquet at the Madison Bowling Center.  We had a lot of fun and celebrated my retirement from quarter midgets.  I got all my hardware for the HQMA heavy 160 and heavy world formula track championships, plus my trophy flags and the track record trophy for heavy world formula.  It was a great night and we followed it up with a couple rounds of bowling.   I'm gonna miss my quarter midget friends but look forward to moving into the 600cc microsprints and making new friends.

01/8/11 - We went to the Region 3 quarter midget banquet in Georgia.  We had a lot of fun racing the indoor karts at Andretti's.  We had the awards ceremony and I brought home 2 6 foot trophies for the Heavy 160 and Heavy World Formula region 3 championships.  It was a great way to end my quarter midget racing career.

Quarter Midget RACE RECAPS

NOVEMBER 13 - THE LAST QUARTER MIDGET RACE! - We had a great end to our quarter midget career.  Set fast times in both Heavy 160 and heavy world formula.  Won the WF race and finished 2nd in the heavy 160 -- got caught up in a first lap wreck that left us towed out and belly pan dragging but worked our way back up to 2nd.  We have had a blast in quarter midgets over the last 6 years.  We won 10 championships in 6 years!  Pretty dang good! We have made many lasting friendships and look forward to our micro sprint racing next year, making more friends and hopefully getting some wins!

October 30, 2010 NGQMA Region Race - Will Brown Racing had a good weekend.  Qualified 1st in Heavy 160 and 2nd fastest in heavy world formula after a spin on the 5th lap of 8.  Had a great handling car in 160 - led the race and lapped up to 3rd place....think we could have lapped the field if the race would have stayed green.  Took the win and locked up the regional championship for Heavy 160!  Won the race in heavy world formula but the championship will still be decided at the last race in November.

October 2, 2010 - GREAT DAY and what a come back after the 09/18 Ga race!  We had great cars today.  Set fast time in both heavy 160 and heavy world formula and new track record in wf.  Won both races too.  Now we just need to back it up again at the next race.  Our world formula was tore down so it may not be ready for the next local race.

Sept 25th - RAIN OUT

September 18, 2010 -
Crappy race weekend....it looked good at first and then the ______ hit the fan!  We had fast time in heavy world formula and not too bad in heavy 160.  The heavy 160 race went ok... We battled for the lead for awhile when a lapped car got in the way and we wrecked.  Got the car back on the track but the damage kept the car too tight....we ended up 3rd.  Heavy WF was another story.... we didn't have the fasted car but we were gonna settle for a 2nd and with 4 laps to go during a caution--- we get the black flag ---WHAT??  What happened? The leader had come on a lapped car and wrecked that car - my dad naturally thought the lead car would get a call and go to the back -- that would give us the break we needed and with 4 laps to go we would probably get the win.....Not the case!  The judges made no call and so my dad "questioned" the race director... they DQ us because my dad got mad.  Now that's fair to the driver - right?  Come to find out a judge of the race told us later that since that car had led the majority of the race it didn't seem fair to send him to the rear with 4 laps to go....but I guess it was fair to DQ us for questioning a call.  SO glad we are moving to mini sprints next year!

September 4, 2010 - Huntsville region race.  We had racers from FL, GA and TN come join us.  I had a great qualifying run in both cars.... fast time in both heavy 160 and world formula.  Also, broke my own track record in heavy world formula again.  Looked like were going to have 2 more wins but while leading the heavy 160 race my right rear spring broke in half and the car slowly went away.....I mangaged to still be fast enough to finish 3rd.  In heavy world formula I won it.  We had a great car.  One week off since the TN track went USAC then it's back to Georgia on the 18th.

August 2010
August 21 -
Huntsville again!  We had a great weekend. Didn't qualify too good.  We were very tight.  Crew chief dad loosened me up and we ran great.  Had a tough fight and held off another car for the win in heavy 160.  Won heavy world formula too.  It's been a busy 3 weeks.  Off next week and then back to Huntsville for the region race.  It seems like my motor is just not as strong so I will have to fight hard to come out on top.

August 14 - Back to Huntsville this week.  Had a great race going in heavy 160 until my engine hub broke...hate it when that happens!  I was leading the race and had to go out.  Won the heat race though.  World formula was great.  We didn't have many cars so we just ran the main event.  I won that one.

Aug 7 - We had a good time at NGQMA.  Arrived on Friday for practice and was hooked up.  By Saturday morning qualifying -- the track changed and we weren't too good.  We started 3rd in heavy 160 and raced hard with another car.  I bet we changed leads about 20 times for 10 laps.  The crowd loved it.  I came out on top and took home the win but it was a hard battle.  In heavy world formula I kept telling my dad (crew chief) that the car would not turn..... come to find out the steering shaft was bent.  I still managed a 2nd place.  Next week - back to Huntsville!  Hopefully I will have a new steering shaft in WF.

July 2010
July 17 -
Finally back to racing after a month off.  Traveled to Music City QMA for practice on Friday and races on Saturday.  Did well....qualified 3rd in Heavy 160 and 1st in heavy world formula and also set new track record.  Pretty good since I normally don't do well there.  We had a great day.  Took the lead on the first lap in heavy 160 and led the entire race.  World formula wasn't as good.... car was too loose and we held on to 2nd.  Had a great time seeing my Nashville friends.  Looking forward to racing GA in 2 weeks.

June 2010
June 19 -
Rain delay held off qualifying until about 2pm but once we got started it turned out ok.  Won both my heat race and feature in heavy 160.  No heat race for world formula but won the Amain in it too.  Great father's day present for my dad and Papa that got to come watch.  Off for a while and then TN on July 17th for the AL/TN Shootout.

June 5 - Got off to a rough start.  Had a no time in Hvy 160 because the throttle linkage broke but came back in heavy world formula to get fast time.  Still didnt have my good motor back from the tear down at the region race so we used the ole "turd" motor (that what Dirk calls it).  It did ok.  I led most of the race but just couldnt hold on to win.  Came out 2nd.  Won heavy world formula.

May 2010
May 28 - Huntsville hosted the Dixie 250 region race.  Had fast times in both cars and won heavy 160.  Finished 3rd in heavy world formula due to bad judgement on the track...tapped the wall and knocked the chain off. Once that happened it was hard to keep chain on.  Ended up finishing 3rd.  Next week is the charity race at Huntsville.

May 22 - Had a great bday weekend! 14th birthday was on Friday and celebrated by winning both races on Saturday, having fast times in both race classes and setting a new track record for heavy world formula.  Looking forward to next weekend's region race.

May 15th - TN region race has been cancelled due to the severe flooding.  The track was 12 ft under water at one time.  Plan on helping with clean up and the race has been rescheduled.

May 8 -  Raced at Huntsville today.  Went out for practice and smacked the wall pretty hard - bent my front axle.  Didn't have enough time to practice again once we got the car fixed so went out in the heat not knowing how my car was going to handle.  Car was awful but I still managed to come out with a win.  World formula wasn't the same.  Didn't practice at all in it and it showed.  Car was still set up from Georgia.  Finished 2nd in the heat.  Worked on the cars a little before the mains and got them better.  Won Heavy 160 with a good set up but struggled in WF.  I was extremely loose, spun 2 times but took the lead with 8 laps to go and won it.  Whew!  Don't know how!

April 2010
April 24-25:  We left on Friday for practice and then a monsoon came on Saturday.  We waited it out and raced on Sunday.  Will qualifed 4th in Heavy 160 and 3rd in WF.  He won the world formula race and led a lot of the Heavy 160 race before getting ran over by another driver.  The chain came off and bent the panhard bar but came in the pits for a quick fix.  After restarting in the rear, he came back to finish 5th with a ill handling car.  Good job, Will!
April 17 - We had a great first day back to racing!  Will won his first Heavy 160 race and had the second fastest qualifying time.  He also had fast time is heavy world formula with a new track record.  With only a few hours of practice time we did pretty well coming back from a broken arm.  We look forward to North Georgia next week for the region race.  We have always had bad luck there so may be this time will be better.

February 2010
Broke my arm playing basketball so we will be sitting out the first few races....bummer!  Our first race this season will be the 2nd HQMA points race.  Although we are not running for the HQMA points championship this year it will give us seat time that we need before the next regional race.

Remainder of 2009 -  We won many more races and also had our share of disappointments but overall we finished with another points championship in both Lt 160 and world formula at HQMA.    We qualified horrible at the Eastern Grands and ended up getting wrecked in both race classes.  That was a big disappointment because the grands were at our home track and I didn't get to show my driving ability.    We took a break after the grands and didn't race the regional races or the Turkey Gobbler.  Looking forward to 2010 and trying for reigion 3 championship.  This will be our final year in quarter midgets and then we will be on to something bigger.

May 2009
May 23 - Region 3 race/States Race - What a weekend!  We arrived at the track on Friday to practice.  Only practiced Lt 160  - never got WF car off trailer.  RAIN RAIN RAIN!!!  Saturday came and we finally got qualifying in.   We qualified 8th in Lt 160 out of 33 cars and got fast time in World Formula.   Suday came --finally a break in the weather at about 11am.  Races started.    We raced the Lt160 B main and won it and then led most of the Amain but came out 2nd.  Not too bad.  WF was another story.  Will laid back for the first few laps and then started going to the front.  Will and Martin swapped the lead a few times and then like a rocket, Will took off.  He had the a straight-a-way on the field and at lap 8 RED FLAG came out.  The flagman walked over to Will and DQ'd him for no neck collar or not snapped or something like that.  I was so mad I never really heard the right story. WITH 7  LAPS TO GO!  WHAT??? The judges let another car run thru the pits full speed but DQ us.  That's so not right!  It's insane!  It goes to show you - if you can't beat us - just make sure we are off the track so you can.
MAY 9 - Rain Delay!!!  Once the rain stopped HQMA went racing according to pill draw.  Will won both Lt 160 and WF Amains.  Great job, Will.
April 2009
April 5th - A much better day at our home track.  Will qualified with fast times in both light 160 and world formula and went on the win both race classes as well.  It's good to be home!
March 2009
March 28th - Not the best weekend!  We went to TN for the region 3 race.  It rained and came tornadoes!  No practice for us.  We got qualifying in on Saturday but we were't too good.  Races were called on account of storms and we finished up on Sunday.  In light 160 we got down a lap early and then under caution changed tires.  That helped but it was too late in the race.  Will drove back through field and if he could have gotten his lap back we would have finished 3rd or 4th - but instead came out 8th.  World formula wasn't good either - we ended up 6th.
March 21st - 2nd race of the HQMA season.  We had a pretty good day.  Will qualified with fast times in both Lt 160 and World Formula.  HQMA inverted top 5 so that put us starting 5th.  We had a great day and won Lt 160 and finished 2nd in World Formula.
March 7th - HQMA Kicked off their 2009 racing season on March 7th.  It is a brand new year and this year HQMA will host the 2009 Eastern Grands.  To get ready for the grands, HQMA decided to run all races in grands format which means no heat races --- only time qualifying to determine where drivers will start in the mains.
Will got a great start to his 2009 racing season by winning fast times in both his race classes: Lt 160 and World Formula.  He would go on to win World Formula and finish 2nd in Lt 160.  Lt160 could have been a win but racing is racing.....  Will got taken to the wall early in the race and bent a spindle - placed in the rear because no call was made on the other driver and he came back through the field only to get put back into the wall with only 8 laps to go - this wreck caused a flat tire.  Crew Chief (dad) brought Will in and pumped the tire up too much to get Will to the end of the race.  So, with 8 laps to go, starting 9th, Will came up to finish 2nd.  What a way to NEVER GIVE UP!  And get this.... only 2 lbs of air in the tire after the race.  Next race - March 21st.

February 2009  We attended the 2nd annual Icebreaker race in Nashville, TN.  They almost tripled their car count from last year.  Will qualified 2nd in Lt 160 and last in WF due to technical difficulties.  The track was slick.  He won the Lt 160 race after being put in the rear on lap 15.  He is getting good at coming from the rear.  In WF, we could not get a handle on the track.  The car set up was way off and with 3 DOT's Will's night was done.  He finished 4th.

December 2008  HQMA held their awards banquet at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville.  Will attended and collected his 2008 Lt 160 and WF championship awards.  Each champion received a 6ft tall trophy per class and an embroidered checkered flag.   Will also received a track record trophy for WF because he held the record at the end of the 2008 race season.

November 2008  The Turkey Gobbler -  Huntsville's annual Thanksgiving event.  Will qualified 2nd in World Formula and 3rd in Lt 160.  Both great times and put us in the Amain for both.  We watched the lower mains and waited until late Saturday for the features.  Will won both classes. Our WF motor smoked the entire race and with about 20 laps to go, we were put in the rear of the field because of 2 car spin.  Will drove like a man possessed and took the lead with about 10 to go and won the race.  After the race, tech DQ'd us for liberation of fluid (the smoking)-- which should have been done under green flag conditions.  We should have protested that ruling but instead we let it go.  We knew (everyone knew) who had the fastest car that day.

October 2008  10/11/08:  Will won both the heat race and the Amain in Lt 160 and finished 2nd in World Formula.  We sat out the Scaretona race with a much needed break.

September 2008  09/20/08: We had a month off to figure out exactly what we needed to wrap up the championships.  If we could win one more race  in Lt 160  we could lock up the HQMA championship points and be the 2008 champion and that's exactly what Will did.  He won both the heat and Amain race and won the Championship points.  WAY TO GO!!!  Now we can sit back and race without pressure. WHEW!  Will also locked up the World Formula championship with a win in it.   Not a bad weekend.  Next race is this weekend on the 27th.
09/27/08:  Great race day!  Will finished 2nd in the heat and won the Amain in Lt. 160 and also won the feature in World Formula.

August 2008  This was not a good month for Brown Motorsports! We had 3 DNFs in Lt 160.  The first race of the month was on August 9th.  We were privileged to try the new Hoosier tire out and although the tire held up great and we led with it, it just got too slippery on the long run.  Will spun while leading the race and was hit by another car which broke our axle. UGH!  We were done and finished 8th.  World formula is always good.....we won it.
Our next race for the month was on August 23rd.  Everything was going pretty good.  We qualified great - got fast times in both classes and finished 2nd in World Formula, but Lt 160 was another DNF!  UGH UGH!  The front bearing locked up and welded itself on.  We could not get it off and therefore could not finish the race.  Oh!  We were leading that one too when it happened.
Finally, our Region 3 race at Huntsville was held on August 30th.   We expected may be a 5th place qualifying run or may be a top 10 due to all the great competition in Region 3, but we got the FAST TIME in Lt 160!!! Wow, Could not believe it!  Of course, that meant we started 5th.   We ran well in the race and even led about 20 laps.  We ended up finishing 2nd.   In World Formula we finished 5th due to mechanical problems, but not a bad day at all.

July 2008   July 5th was a great day.  We seemed to be back on track.  We won Lt 160 and W/F.  July 12th was an okay day.  We won W/F, but could of done better in Lt. 160 - we were leading when we were chopped.  The call made was charging on us! With 10 laps to go, Will came back to finish 3rd, so not too bad.  You win some, you loose some!  That's racing!

June 2008

June 7th was the only race for the mont and it was close.....photo finish at the line.  Lt 160 - Shay and Will didn't know who won.  They both drove around the track after the checkered flag until the scorers announced it. Shay won!  Oh well, Will was happy to see Shay get his first Amain win.  He was very happy for him.
In World Formula, Will won the race, but got DQ'd for the exhaust being loose.  What a raw deal.  He got rear-ended in the race and it caused the exhaust to become loose.  Go figure!

May 2008
After 3 weeks off and no practice we thought we would be junk, but Will came out with a bang.  May 17th was the 4th points race for Huntsville and Will finished with 2 Amain wins, 2 fast times and a new track record in World Formula at 6.312 (old record was 6.352).  What a great day!  Not sure how long the record will last - we have a region 3 race on the 24th and a lot of fast drivers will be there.  At least we had it for awhile.

April 2008
Will had a great month!  He had races on the 12th and the 19th and won both in Lt. 160 and had decent finishes in World Formula with a 2nd and a 4th place finish in the Feature races.  The month didn't go without some excitement though.  We had mechanical problems but luckily they occured in the heat races and it gave us time to correct the problems.  Will really had to fight for the Lt 160 win on the 19th.  He started last due to a DNF in the heat and was put to the rear twice only to make a come back with 10 laps to go.  He was by no means the fastest the car on the track, but came through the field like he was possessed and took the win.  WAY TO GO, WILL!!

March 2008
HQMA's race season got under way on March 22 -  Will won both his heat race and the Amain in Lt.160 and led most of the heat race in W/F before motor problems took him out of the race.  After correcting the problem, Will finished 3rd in the Amain.
Gander Mountain had it's annual car show.  Will took his quarter midgets and spoke to potential racers about our sport and handed out brochures.

February 2008
A press conference was held at Huntsville City Hall to announce that HQMA was awarded the 2009 Eastern Grands.

January 2008
Will and his dad attended the Region 3 Banquet in Georgia.  It was held at the Andretti Speed Lab and they had a blast.

December 2007
Will attended the HQMA annual banquet along with all his HQMA racing buddies.  He ended the 2007 HQMA points with a 1st place in Sr. Honda and Lt. 160 and a 3rd place in World Formula.  This was Will's 1st year in W/F and only his 2nd in Lt. 160. He has been racing Sr. Honda for 2 years.

November 2007
Will wrapped up the 2007 season with the HQMA's annual Turkey Gobbler Race.  It was extremely cold, but we mananged to set the fast
time in Sr. Honda and qualified 5th in Lt. 160.  That meant the pole for the Amain in Lt. 160.  Competition was tough. This years Turkey Gobbler had over 160 cars registered.  Will raced hard in Sr Honda, leading a lot of the race.  He tangled with another car, but managed to work his way back up to second and gained on the leader.....until the throttle linkage broke.  Luckily Will caught a break and was able to come into the pits and get it fixed.  With 4 laps to go, Will came from last to finish 4th.  In Lt. 160, Will wasn't so lucky.  He started on the pole and went to 3rd pretty quick.  It started raining and the cars were placed under caution.  Racing resumed.  Will stuggled with the handling of his car.  Coming in and out of the pits every caution.  His right rear tire was going flat.  With 10 laps to go we changed the tire and he was able to finish 5th.  Way to stick it out and never give up.

October 2007
Will had a pretty good October.  On 10/13, Will finished 2nd in both Lt. 160 & World Formula.  He did not race Sr Honda. On 10/27, Will set a new track record in Lt. 160 at 6.602.  He would finish 2nd in the Amain.  In Senior Honda he ran a friend's motor for them and finished 6th with it.

September 2007
Will raced 09/29 and had a great day.  He won both the Sr Honda Amain and the Lt. 160 Amain races and finished 3rd in World Formula.  On 09/22 Will had a 3rd place in Sr Honda, a 6th in Lt. 160 and did not race the W/F.
